Spotted this at the Hellenic Breakfast Market on Saturday morning in Durban North.
Looks like they have a website and they deliver every week to the greater Durban area. Smoked Bacon, roasts, ribs hams, sausages...pretty much everything made by a pig it seems.

Loving Hams - quite like the name too.

We are pork producers hailing from humble beginnings in Winterton,
Kwazulu Natal, where we have been farming successfully through three generations from Geoffrey to Nigel to Lance Luffingham.

A long time ago we had the "Push Button - Receive Bacon"  and we all laughed and thought how nice that would be but never thought it would be possible...until now that is!

Check this out - I don't know this picture was taken - I'm sure in some secret underground bunker where they are doing R&D on new hi-tech ways to gain access to Bacon.

But if this comes to market it will revolutionise the way people use bathrooms! Imagine going to dry your hands and receiving Bacon? You'd want to dry your hands forever! Even if they aren't wet!

Oh...if only it were true...

I have no idea where this originally came from, but it got sent to me by Banch and I am loving the idea! I am going to have to try this the next time I am left to fend for myself!

Here’s what you are going to need

 

 I used a loaf of hard crusted Italian bread, 3 ribeye steaks 1 lb mushrooms, an onion and some bacon.

Bacon Breakfast Cone

Another idea from J&D's - The Bacon Breakfast Cone!
Basically it's a cone of Bacon wrapped around scrambled eggs and closed with a biscuit. This is where I get a little confused. A biscuit here is a sweet baked good. There I think its more like a small scone or doughy bread thing. Who knows...I'll still eat it!

An Ode to Bacon spotted at AfrikaBurn

Ok so I don't know what AfrikaBurn is, but Sam was there and took this great snap of someone with the right set of priories!

After a little research I found AfrikaBurn is a music festival held in the middle of the Karoo - the Karoo is like a semi-desert in the middle of South Africa.

From the AfrikaBurn website - "AfrikaBurn is the spectacular result of the creative expression of participants who gather once a year in the Tankwa Karoo to create a temporary city of art, theme camps, costume, music and performance!"

But I digress...the reason we're here is because there is a picture of sign leaning against an old, dirty trailer!

Bacon Salt

I've seen it at Pick'n'Pay before, but now it seems its official. J&D's have tweeted that their Bacon Salt is available here in South Africa! Hopefully it'll be in all their stores.. I know where I'm going tomorrow to see if they have it in stock! Happy times!

I was watching Jamie Oliver's American Road trip last night. Quite interesting even though it was filmed back in 2008 (I think). Anyway, it was all about how Jamie was heading to Florida to go compete in a BBQ competition. And they were cooking pork. Loving it! So this is the name of one of the teams!
I think we need a BBQ competition here. Could be quite fun.
