Signs spotted in the USA

Some mates headed over to the USA to get drunk, party and eat a lot.
This is what they saw.

The US Election hots up

After multiple posts about the Presidential election (see related posts) we finally have one showing how the entire election process could be flipped on it's head. A real game changer...but would either of the candidates do it?

Life is about choices

What would you do if you encountered this sign?
Remember - you can choose how to live your life.

Stucky's in Volksrust

Thanks Banch for sending in this photo from a place he stayed at in Volksrust - yes it is far away from anything. And why he was staying there is a mystery. But either way - we got the photo that looks like they are A OK. The like swine!
It's a place called Stucky's Guesthouse and it looks like they support the German theme of things. So Eisbein and lots of swine! Love it!

Bacon for President

With the elections in the USA coming up soon, yet another Bacon for President campaign poster!

Bacon Pecan Brittle

How good does this stuff look! Apart from it either being so hard it cracks your teeth, or so sticky it pulls them out when you chew...apart from that it looks fantastic! And I'd take the risk!

So where can I get some of this stuff?

Great moments in history

A truly great moment when eggs first met Bacon. Everything just clicked!

Follow The Bounce likes Bacon

So on Twitter I follow a dude who calls his website and twitter - Follow The Bounce,  who is pretty clued up on his sport. Fun comments and likes a bit of beer.
And it turns out he likes Bacon too - check him out at this site, and on Twitter. I think he was at some beer festival up in Joburg when this was taken. Love it!

Halloween Bacon Costumes

With Halloween coming up I thought it might be appropriate to show case a couple of Bacon style costumes that would be perfect. There are even ones for your dogs!

Scientists grow bacon from stem cells

From an article on Mother Nature Network they say "A new technique that turns pig stem cells into strips of meat could offer a green alternative to the slaughterhouse and help end hunger."

Now this kind of scares me a little, but does make sense considering all the doom people are talking about with regards to the end of the Bacon world as we know it. I apologize for contributing to this doom talk, but it has to be said....this is pretty sick.

Even the scientists haven't attempted to taste it yet.

If only the Bacon they're making came out looking like this...

Make Crispy Bacon Tubes

Over at The Wicked Noodle they have an article about Bacon and what you can do with it. One of the items is to twist your Bacon into a tight twist. Place in a pan and cook until crispy in the oven. You'll get some nice twisted Bacon!

Do it!

The Muppets and the Bacon shortage

So there has been a lot in the news recently about a world wide Bacon shortage. I've heard all this before.
Sure the prices will go up, but that's what happens leading up towards Christmas when Pork consumption goes up. There are still plenty of Pigs available for the big festive meals.

But either way...here is a great cartoon of the Muppets about the Bacon shortage.

Farmer eaten by his own hogs

I came across this article today and it scared me just a little. I hope I don't have to go off and feed the Pigs anytime soon!
All they know is that the remains of the farmer were found in the Pig pen.

After a little hunting around I also found this article about some guy who fed his victims to the Pigs.

All reminds me a bit of the movie Snatch and this quote from the movie.

Brick Top: You're always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together.
Sol: Would someone mind telling me, who are you?
Brick Top: And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig shit, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig".
Vinny: Well, thank you for that. That's a great weight off me mind. Now, if you wouldn't mind telling me who the fuck you are, apart from someone who feeds people to pigs of course?

Standard American Breakfast?

So I found this picture on the interwebs with the caption : Standard American Breakfast.
I can see how that is funny. Americans are known to be overweight  hence the enormous plate of Bacon. And Americans like their guns, hence the gun sitting at the table.
Now when I was over in the USA back in 2001 I don't remember ever having a breakfast like that.
So please tell me - is this the norm now?
