No updates but Bacon can be salad
I'm away in Vietnam at the moment so there have been no regular updates. And won't be till December.
But I did spot this on the menu somewhere - I forget where. But it was here in Vietnam.
Just shows that Bacon can be a salad!

Vietnamese Swine transportation
Spotted this while we were out walking in the hills around Sapa today. Trussed, caged and ready to go on the back of a bike to market!
Vietnamese Post cards
Got these at a tourist stop disguised as a toilet break on the way from Ha Long Bay to Hanoi. These are some of what was on offer. But we have seen many things made into Pigs!

Vark Club - Smoked Pulled Pork
Another edition of Vark Club - this time it was my turn to host. The plan - Smoked Pulled Pork Shoulder.
I started the fire in the Weber around 9:30am. Meat went in (after having been prepped and rubbed the night before) at around 10am.
Checking throughout the day, adding more coals, adding more hickory wood chips, and just watching. Luckily I work from home so have the time to do this!
Around 4ish I started getting nervous the skin wasn't crisping up properly so cranked up the heat by adding quite a few more coals.
Well I have to say it turned out fantastically! The smoke ring was clear to see! Trying to get it off the grid you could see it start falling apart - the dudes were most impressed! And so much flavour yet again!
Winner winner Porky dinner!
Thanks to Spoem for the photos.

Pigs generate electricity with ice cream
I found a story on TimesLive from a few weeks ago that mentions how a farm in Australia is feeding their Pigs ice cream, as a treat. Ok yes, there is a lot more to the story than just that.
Basically they're farming methane produced by the Pigs!
The manure from the 22,000 Pigs used to go to a land fill now goes into a huge pond. They then capture the methane gas and harness this gas to make electricity. They are managing to operate the entire farm on this electricity as well as selling some back to the grid!
So Pigs not only taste great and make all sorts of meaty treats, they can also generate electricity!
They truly are amazing creatures!

Swimming in Bacon is allowed here.
Where is this sign? I need to find it. I, too, would like to swim in Bacon!

Bacon Chocolate Cupcake
I don't know where this came from. Johannesburg is where the wife had come from. This cupcake arrived in my fridge. I ate it.
It was top to the power of Epic! Nice flavours. Very soft cake. Lovely mix of savory Bacon with sweet chocolate.
A winner by all measures.

The first Bacon Costume
What might just be the very first costume of Bacon has been found. It was created by George J. Nicholls in April 1894 for the Covent Garden Fancy Dress Ball. He earned himself a tidy sum of forty Guineas for his efforts!
George Nicholls was a huge lover of Bacon, even penning a book title "Bacon and Hams" in 1917.
