DELICIOUS – INTERNATIONAL FOOD & MUSIC FESTIVAL COMES TO SOUTH AFRICA - Sponsored Post

UK celebrity chefs to be joined by international superstars, Jamiroquai

Described as the music festival for food lovers or a food festival for music lovers that takes the combination of food and music based entertainment to the next level; Delicious is set to take the South African entertainment and culinary world by storm in Johannesburg the weekend of 5 and 6 October 2013.

Presented by DSTV in association with Checkers, Oceans Basket, The Sunday Times and Sowetan; South Africa’s first international food and music festival will bring world class talent to the Blue Hills Equestrian Estate as renowned UK celebrity chefs Aldo Zilli, Ed Baines and John Burton Race showcase their talents by bringing their signature pop up restaurants to the festival - Aldo Zilli’s San Carlo Cicchetti, Ed Baines’ Randal and Aubin, as well as John Burton Race’s The John Burton Race Experience.

There is no better band to headline the first Delicious International Food and Music Festival than Jamiroquai. With their signature mix of funk, jazz, disco and house and the combination of beautiful sunshine, delicious food and wine, there will be no better vibe to be had in Johannesburg this year.

The three international pop up restaurants, San Carlo Cicchetti, Randall & Aubin and The John Burton Race Experience will provide patrons with the opportunity to experience their fine cuisine first hand while enjoying the music from a raised position overlooking the crowd. These restaurants will take bookings for lunch and dinner sittings daily.

Delicious will cater for all budgets with a plethora of food options ranging from these three renowned pop up restaurants, a huge artisan food market (encompassing a vast array of African, European, pan Asian) and a line up of South African artists which will be announced soon.

Reservations for the pop-up restaurants can be made for lunch and/or dinner at a cost of R900, while general admission entry will cost R380. Child-friendly areas hosted by “DStv Kids” will be available so kids can be entertained while parents enjoy the festival – children under twelve years old will cost R100 with those under three no charge.

“Delicious is clearly something not seen before and I am excited to be a part of this project”, said John Burton Race.

Delicious will open daily at 12:00 and promises to be a fantastic and entertaining day out for the entire family.

Coppa di Testa

I recently started following a website about Cured Meats. It seems to be run by a chap in Atlanta, Georgia, and provides all the information someone will need to get going in the world of cured meats.
His latest blog describes how he obtained half a Pig, and then what he did with the Pigs head. Basically he made something called Coppa di Testa. I don't know what that is, but it seems to make use of the head and comes out as a kind of cold meat for sandwiches and the like. Looks good to me!

Detailed instructions on how to do this yourself are also included as well as some good pictures.

Definitely a blog worth following if you're wanting to learn more about the cured meats process.
Check out Cured Meats.

Bacon Playing cards and Poker Chips

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned Bacon Playing cards on Kickstarter.
Well they seem to be doing pretty well raising money - 10 days to go and they need another $7000 or so. So not too bad.
Well now they've also announced the Porky Poker Chips! So if you're going to contribute make sure you contribute enough to get some of these awesome chips!
